Atlantis Community Feedback!

Atlantis World
8 min readMay 2, 2022

About three weeks ago our community lead Andy put together a feedback form to asses how we at Atlantis World are doing, what the community thought and to seek out interesting ideas to potentially implement. It’s taken some time to fully review this feedback (there were over 75 entries!) and Devconnect slowed us down, but we will explain the main points here!

Keep in mind there were a lot of comments and if we wrote them all out it would take a long time for you to read. Let’s start simple with measurable data.

Measurable data

1 being “Not very”
5 being “Very much”

By adding categories 4 & 5 we have a 68.4% of participants stating that our goals at Atlantis World are clear. Pretty good! What are those goals though?

We consider some of our main objectives to be:

  • Building the Web3 social metaverse
  • Combining web3 + gaming + social + education
  • Doing the above in an easily accessible way
  • Building the foundation to onboard web3 & non crypto native users
  • Building partnerships with crypto native projects & blockchains
  • Helping existing web3 communities to engage with their members in AW

We are assuming option 3 as neutral. Given this, adding options 4 & 5 gives us a 60.5% of participants feeling positive about what’s going on in Atlantis! Options 1 & 2 is 23.7% not understanding, this means we can be doing better on communication!

We hope to keep you in the loop and improve this further with these type of blog posts & partner spotlights.

We are assuming option 3 as neutral. Given this, adding options 4 & 5 gives us a 55.3% of participants feeling positive about progress to our goals!

Only 44.3% are satisfied with the game version (this was still before our arcade and other updates). Those are rookie numbers though, we gotta pump those numbers up!

What is most important to you in a Metaverse?

Yes it’s hard to read, sry.

Some of the highest categories of interest included Exploration, Other Web3 Integrations, Things to do & Special Events. This gives us insight into what people are interested in right now.

Each of these depends heavily on our development & game teams. We are aware of the constraints our small team is having and are looking to hire more developers ASAP!

What are we doing well?

  • Art & Game atmosphere
  • Welcoming community
  • Amount of partnerships with web3 projects
  • Weekly announcements / game updates

I think we can agree that there is definitely some magic when you first explore Atlantis World, a good portion of that can be accredited to our fabulous designers Ilayda & Eylül. By working together with our game devs they’ve brought us something beautiful!

Our welcoming community is something I particularly enjoy as well! Whether it’s gm or just all around good vibes, if we can maintain this culture we will be ready for the future users we want to onboard.

The total public / unannounced / in the works partner collaborations within web3 for Atlantis is a lot… It seems to me almost everyday Rev/CJ and I are meeting with another web3 project to talk integrations.

Weekly announcements in our discord are still packed with info. I’ll touch on game updates in the next section.

Notable comments from above points:

“I love how the core team of Atlantis Word is spreading about the project, creating more connections, collaborations and partnerships.”

“I am in love with style and pixel art”

“Great community, everyone is very caring and united.”

“Great vibe, lots of integrations.”

“I like what you do. What exactly you’re doing wrong, I can’t tell. But I think you are on the right track.”

What could we be doing better?

  • More info on Round 2 sale
  • More game updates & activities in game
  • Focusing on ETH over polygon
  • Little to no scroll utility currently. None for keys
  • Marketing / Hype / making people know about AW
  • More promotion / twitter presence
  • Enable user made maps? I.e. Opening up tools to community
  • Unable to play due to connection bugs / key holders. Mobile unplayable
  • More AMAs with team members
  • Increase alpha userbase

There’s a lot to unpack here. I’ll just run down the list to start.

I don’t really have any more info to share on a Round 2 sale beyond we are burning all the unminted keys. You can find the live key burning site here furnace.atlantis.world/+ play with some fun features.

Game Updates & content

As for game updates & activities in game it’s a focus of ours. We are back to frequent game updates but we can improve more here as we increase our current small team. There’s always a lot of work to do. Ideas can come easy (and we have a lot), but making them happen takes time & effort we are committed to making it happen.

You can explore the whole of Atlantis World in maybe 30 minutes with few incentives (not just financial) to re-visit. You almost feel like a tourist instead of a resident. We need to fix that. We could explore daily quests (think Zapper season 1), in game events and more. I personally would enjoy more social aspects first and foremost. Whether that’s a buddy system, creating parties in game (like a game), or even a waiting room lobby there’s a lot we could be explore.

ETH vs Polygon for NFTs.

This is a tricky one. The original sale was on Polygon for a variety of reasons like gas fees (on ETH), accessibility, partnerships etc. There might have been more users who could have aped in if we had our sale on ETH but it also complicates future drops & our plans for NFT rewards in game. Minting every item/quest reward etc. on Ethereum main net is not scalable right now.
We have some potential plans that might bridge this gap between our founding scrolls living on Polygon and driving adoption & hype from the Ethereum native community. We can always do more collections on Ethereum if it makes sense. Give us time.

Founders Scroll & key Utility
I personally think we should be utilizing our existing partner network more to offer benefits to our Scroll & key holders. This could be as simple as a free unstoppable domain to claim for our holders (this is just an example). Free mints for an NFT partnership and so on. Multiply that by each partner we have and we are in business! I’ve added these kind of questions to our internal partnership discussions.

Also key holders can’t even access the alpha. What’s up with that?
I̶ ̶e̶l̶e̶v̶a̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶c̶e̶r̶n̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶t̶e̶c̶h̶n̶i̶c̶a̶l̶ ̶t̶e̶a̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶w̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶n̶s̶w̶e̶r̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶A̶S̶A̶P̶(Already fixed). Key holders can access the alpha!

Also be mindful we have always intended the Founding Atlantean Scrolls to be the NFT that has perks, it’s your membership to Atlantis World.

Marketing / Hype / Awareness
Currently we don’t do any paid marketing. That’s partially because we don’t want to market or hype up an experience that’s only accessible to Alpha players. Like I stated above there’s a lot to be done, but that’s also why we are hiring for a content position.

As for actual awareness we want to host AMAs in both discord and Atlantis World that will help feature our existing partners and potentially new ones. I’ve been wanting to host events in AW with partner communities but there’s been time constraints as well as limitations with our current game build.

We could start very small though with short walkthroughs of Atlantis World with special guests. Keep it short and simple, then promote that via twitter etc.

More promotion / twitter presence
This also ties into the above. As we host events we will share them across socials. As for twitter presence we have content planned but our workflow for it has not been ideal. We are fixing this. Once done expect almost daily tweets / announcements.

Hopefully you’ve seen the recent content we’ve been posting on twitter & youtube from Devconnect / ETH Amsterdam! We have quite a few interviews with other protocols & projects to share over time so stay tuned!

Opening up tools to community

This is still a long way out but we have it in mind. This will include sending ownership of clubhouses to their corresponding protocols or even having elected delegates that are able to customize their clubhouse interiors, NPC texts and so forth. We have to build a lot of toolsets to let others build on it.

Unable to play due to connection bugs

This can be really frustrating. I get it. Part of it is due to our bug reporting & difficulties getting accurate logs / data from users. I hope to help expedite this even further & made arrangements. Please stay patient~

More AMAs with team members

This would pull from our other resources & heavy workloads but we can make this happen at some point. Maybe a quick peek at what designers are up to or just a casual chat with some of our devs. Timezones are also a factor here but not an excuse. We have a new team member Adriana who joined us, you’ve likely seen her on telegram and discord already. Adriana will focus on our organizational side.

Increase Userbase

There will be more events & possibly onboarding calls / tours hosted by Andy to increase our user base. At Devconnect the team handed out special claimable POAPs that also give access to our Alpha! As of this writing there have been 342 claimed. We are in a transitional phase right now too where we will be opening the Alpha fully to engage more users.

If you could add something in AW what would it be?

  • Personalized avatars for founders
  • Easter Eggs / claimable treasures
  • User customization, ex. Maps, mini-games
  • Lore for AW. Around character & guild
  • More emojis
  • Achievements & more quests
  • Educational content
  • More language support besides English
  • More info on integrations / partnerships

Let me assure you all of the above is on our minds. It won’t happen overnight but these are key components we want to implement into Atlantis world. I personally want to see more quests and even achievements that are given as something like an on chain achievement token.

There is a lot to be done but overall I’m still very hopeful and excited for the future of Atlantis. We’ve got the vision, the partners, the committed community & team members to make it happen. Let’s build.

Reminder: If you filled out the feedback form & left your ETH address when asked you can still claim the POAP here!

As always you can visit us on discord with any questions or comments!

-Andy
